Performance Team Pathway

Pathway Opportunities:

Performance Team is designed for dancers who wish to participate in competitive group choreography while maintaining a flexible training schedule. Performance Team dancers compete at two regional competitions and perform in EADE's Winter and End-of-Year Trading Floor Showcases.

Training  Requirements:

Performance Team dancers are required to take one weekly ballet class and one additional hour of student-selected classes in the appropriate Technique Training age pathway. Performance Team dancers are required to attend two additional fall team rehearsals.

Team dancers have the opportunity to participate in competitive group routines based on audition results, choreography needs, team balance, and casting decisions. Performance Team dancers are required to participate in two group routines and will rehearsal each routine for 30 minutes each week.

Entry Requirements:

Team placement is determined through EADE's annual audition process. Audition procedures, requirements, timelines, and evaluation criteria are communicated each summer prior to auditions.

Prior dance experience is recommended for dancers interested in Performance Team or Elite Team opportunities. In most circumstances, dancers are encouraged to complete at least two years of Technique Training prior to auditioning for a team pathway.

Placement within Performance Team, Elite Team, competitive routines, understudy positions, solos, duos, and trios is determined by EADE based on the needs of the choreography, team balance, dancer readiness, and audition results.

EADE evaluates dancers using a variety of factors, including but not limited to:

  • Technical ability and skill development
  • Performance quality and stage presence
  • Work ethic and preparedness
  • Ability to apply corrections
  • Attendance and reliability
  • Leadership and sportsmanship
  • Positive attitude and coachability
  • Maturity and readiness for the expectations of the pathway
  • Team balance and choreographic needs

Placement decisions are final. Dancers and families should not audition for opportunities they are unwilling to accept.

EADE reserves the right to adjust team, class, and choreography placements at any point in the season when necessary to support dancer development, safety, team balance, or studio operations.

Understudy Positions

EADE may offer understudy positions for select competitive routines.

Understudies are responsible for attending all assigned rehearsals, learning choreography, and preparing to perform if needed. Understudies may be asked to assume a performance role due to injury, withdrawal, attendance concerns, or other circumstances affecting a casted dancer's participation.

Understudies are held to the same attendance, rehearsal, performance, and conduct expectations as dancers cast in the routine.
